The Artist explains below the reason for both the company name and the stylization he chose for the logo.
"When I had just legally punched in to public records the LLC, the first thought that came to my mind was 'I don't have a logo for it.' So I began testing ideas out with several sketches. I have an 'ideas' notebook where I will jot things down when they come to me for future products, etc.
I had already settled on the name 'C The Creative' and while sketching logo ideas I was inspired to stylize the name as 'C tHe Creative': No, that is not a typo. Here's the breakdown.
The 'C' stands for multiple puns. 'C' happens to be my favorite programming language. 'C' is also my first name's initial and 'C' is a stand-in for the word 'see'.
'Creative' fits the need to classify what I'm doing. It's creativity in general: drawing, painting, prose, and poetry. Not limited to just pen and paper, but digital art as well, and the blending of both forms. And media in general. Not just stills, but audio and video.
At the time, I was contracted out to convert the audio from several recorded classroom sessions into podcast material, coming up with a jingle for the client and voicing over the intros and outros myself. I enjoyed that project greatly! So, I didn't want the company name to paint me into a corner (no pun intended) by referring to just line art or color plates done with colored pencils. That explains the musical notes in the logo, the ink spills, and even the 7-segment-display-like bottom half of the text in the logo. The color version of the logo (currently unused in the storefront) also divided it into three colors: red, green, and blue. These are the three primary colors in computer graphics programming.
Now we get into the style I chose for the word 'the', which I write 'tHe'. I wanted a permanent reminder of the vision for the store. The first shirt that I loaded came from a 2003 Sunday school lesson I had created featuring Jesus walking on water, on several panels of the comic book page style lesson. I wanted a reminder that though many of my products would be of a whimsical nature, I didn't want to deviate from True North. Win or lose, I didn't want to go the way of many an Ivy League institution that have started with a biblical foundation and have abandoned that altogether, become the polar opposite of how and why they were founded. Nor did I want to figuratively go the way of King David, who eventually broke every single commandment by stealing someone else's wife. Make people smile, make people laugh, make people think. But in everything never dishonor GOD. So for that, I want to keep Jesus Christ at the center of the store and brand. What better way than to put Him as the center word of the LLC's name? The 't' in 'The' was made into lower case: this had the effect to look more like the cross when spelled in regular text and depending on the font, even seems to cast a small shadow at the foot of the cross. That then left the last two letters, 'h' and 'e', in 'the', which became 'He'. Thus we have 'tHe' rather than 'the' or 'The' and all together 'C tHe Creative', keeping Jesus Christ and His great sacrifice on the cross at the center of it all, because He was crucified for me."
